BiographyDave Kelly was born in Houston, Texas. Growing up, Dave’s house was always filled with music, which was instrumental in his everyday life. Dave says “I started jammin’ on the guitar when I was 5 years old. I always wanted to affect people with emotion and FUN! I knew I was gonna be on the radio one way or another. It just so happened I am on this side instead of pluckin’ the heck outta my guitar.” Lucky for him, his parents never discouraged him from pursuing a career in radio.
Dave’s radio travels led him to two legendary stations in Houston, Texas at Rock 101 KLOL and KIKK 95.7. From Houston, he moved over to KLBL, 99.3 The Bull and KYKX, 105.7 in Tyler, Texas. Then he found his way to Dallas, Texas to be part of the Wolf Pack at 99.5 The Wolf. This was followed by a tour of Missouri to host his own radio shows at KIXQ and KTTS. Now, he’s landed in Sacramento to host Dave Kelly in the Morning.
Playing guitar is a big part of Dave’s life to this day. He’s performed live on stage with Jack Ingram, jammed with ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and 38 Special. He even got to play on a Brooks and Dunn song a few years ago, but you’ll never hear it, because his tracks got replaced by a hot new guitarist by the name of Keith Urban!
Dave doesn’t only listen to and play country music, but he has country music to thank for his wife. New country artist, Miranda Lambert, introduced Dave to his wife, Christi. Dave and Christi have two beautiful children, Christiana Rose and Cody Austin.
It’s all about bringing reality to radio and making friends around every corner.
Dave Kelly in the Morning with Dave Kelly, Susan Brown, and General Gridlock with traffic, and the intern are on weekdays from 5:30 am to 10 am on the Brand New 101.9 The Wolf.
