Biography

Robert David O'Brien (born June 22, 1917, Dallas, Texas; died November 18, 1978) was a professional American football player. He played quarterback with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League.

In 1938, while playing for Texas Christian University, O'Brien won the prestigious Heisman Trophy. O'Brien was named to thirteen All-American teams and became the only college football player to win the Heisman, Maxwell Award, and Walter Camp Award in the same year. The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is named for him.
