BiographyIn 2002 Mr. Lopez was nominated for a Grammy as a producer for Best Long Form Video. The nomination for “The World According to Nappy” DVD was associate produced by Mr. Lopez and covers the rise of Hip Hop Group Nappy Roots. Most recently he spearheaded the flawless launch of T.I.’s historic debut for the album KING that sold 523,707 copies in its first week. Mr. Lopez also played a major role in helping the impressive box office debut of T.I.’s first film role in the Warner Bros. Pictures “ATL”.
In July of 2005 Mr. Lopez was named Vice President of Marketing/Department Head for Atlantic Records' Urban Division, based at the company’s New York headquarters. Lopez joined Atlantic in 2000 as Senior Director of Urban Marketing and has played an instrumental role in developing and overseeing the marketing campaigns for such platinum-plus artists as Twista, T.I., Craig David, Fat Joe, Trick Daddy, Trina, Sean Paul, Juvenile and Nappy Roots. After only being at the company for two years he was elevated to VP of Urban Marketing in 2002.
Mr. Lopez has spent the last 13 years working in the music business with stints at Madonna’s Maverick Records, Delicious Vinyl, and currently at Atlantic Records in NYC. In that time he has also worked with successful Hip Hop/R&B acts Me'Shell NdegéOcello,The Pharcyde, Brand New Heavies and more.
Mr. Lopez attended Cy-Fair Sr. High in the suburbs of Houston, TX where he excelled in football, baseball and track. He graduated in 1986 and went on to attend Sam Houston State University on a football scholarship as a wide receiver. In 1997 he married long time high school friend Andrea Matchette and currently resides in the New York area with their two daughters, Hannah (3) and Victoria (8 years).
